BIOGRAPHY

Georgis is a Greek writer – director with a background in social psychology and a Master’s in Directing from Britain’s National Film and Television School (NFTS). Ηe has written, directed and produced short films that have garnered international attention and received awards at over a hundred film festivals. His stories explore intimate relationships in complex sociopolitical contexts, striving for emotionally engaging and thought provoking films. His passion in photography helped him develop a visual aesthetic that touches upon the dreamlike.

His debut feature film, DIGGER, was produced by Athina Rachel Tsangari’s Haos Film in co-production with Le Bureau in France, supported by the Sundance Screenwriters Lab and the Cannes Festival Cinéfondation Residency. It premiered at the 70th Berlinale, receiving the Art Cinema CICAE Award and competed at renowned international festivals winning over 20 awards (Sarajevo | Best Actor, Angers | Special Mention, Thessaloniki | Silver Alexander, Hellenic Film Academy | 10 Iris Awards, Busan, Melbourne, Philadelphia, Haifa, São Paolo, Goteborg, Ghent, AFI). 

Digger had a strong box office in Greece and was the official entry for the Oscars’ international feature film race. It is distributed in numerous territories worldwide, represented by The Match Factory.
Georgis is currently developing a feature film and tv series projects.
